Perhaps it's because there's more to the correct oil selection than just the viscosity? There's other specs requirements also to be considered. Surely then the simple answer is if you want as xW-40 oil, and Nulon (or substitute any other oil brands) recommendation is not that, move onto the next as there's already established oil brands (e.g. Penrite) that offer this? Or at a minimum contact their Tech line and discuss it with them so that they can either explain why their recommendation is what it is, or confirm if the other would be a suitable substitute meeting the other considerations. Just seems strange to me to be trying to push with a non-recommended spec of oil from some brand...

The whole oil thing just seems overly complicated to me. For most folk, it's really as simple as pick your preferred brand (factors such as brand confidence, availability and price point can be considered here) and go with their recommendation. If you're in the know about oils then you might track your own path but if that's the case then you'd already know and have your reasons for doing so.

The only concern I ever had about the Teflon additive was that in the engine oil I thought that the rotor filter might just filter out the Teflon and clog the filter up before it had a chance to do it's job.
From what I saw of the camshaft, as above, that doesn't seem to have been the case.
others might still feel it to be a waste of money .. but I personally think it's good insurance and saves $$$ on unnecessary wear.
I'll continue using it in my next vehicle (Disco 4) as well.

I note on your product selector that 5W-30 diesel full synthetic is recommended for my Discovery2 TD5 but 5W-40 is not recommended. They seem to have similar spoecification so why is this? I plan to travel in temperatures over 35C so a 5W-40 is recommended in the owner manual.

I use Nulon 10w-40 heavy duty engine oil never had a problem with it .
