Those seals aren’t what keeps the water out.
The windscreen is urethane sealed to the frame.
Those seals are more for noise (air) and larger bits dropping in.
Contact cleaner should help on the plug.
Hi everyone,
I pulled apart the passenger side footwell as well as glovebox to sort out some rattling issues and to plug the external aerial into the UHF. I discovered that the c0484 plug has corroded pretty badly. Doesnt seem to be causing any issues except that the internal lights no longer work when set to auto.
What is the general consensus with this plug. Is everyone just bridging the damaged parts, or are they replacing the plug entirely?
The passenger footwell does get wet. It seems as though there is a leak around the lower left corner of the windscreen. The seals don't seem to extend all the way for whatever reason. I poured some water down the windscreen and can see water pouring in. Ill sort that out at some stage so that I can sort out the root cause hopefully.
Cheers

Yeah, its not leaking in around the windscreen. It goes down that hole then it comes back into the passenger well via the gap between the inner and outer skins behind those plugs. It streams in around the holes, bolts and welds and into the wall. Havent pulled it apart yet, job for a different day.
I gave it a spray and a scrub which helped a bit. Its pretty bad, one of the pins has corroded off and another wire has corroded through and broken off as well.
I'm treating all those plugs and others exposed once a year with nanoprotech electric and never had electrical issues since, available down under too NANOPROTECH Super Insulation - The Ultimate Electrical Protection , i have no shares in it, i discovered it few years ago and i'm a big fan of it.... watch the video in the link, it's true
Discovery Td5 (2000), manual, tuned
Interesting. My old vehicle used to have dielectric grease in a lot of the harnesses in the engine bay to prevent this exact thing. I guess the higher authorities decided it wasn't worth it anymore?
So no one has had a crack at fixing one of these?
I will give one of https://www.amazon.com/AHOMASH-Termi.../dp/B07PPF714F kits a go i reckon. See how it goes.
