    Transmission cooler line

Some tool cable tiled the transmission cooler line to secure it. Presumably because said tool lost either a bracket or a clamp.

I have had a look at a number of parts drawings and I cannot find for life of me what is missing and what I need to purchase to replace these cable ties.

Asking kindly if someone can take a look at the pictures and point me in the right direction for what is missing and where I can get it from.

    much appreciated.09121EDD-C63E-48E8-9F35-40B7967509E0.jpg6D24DD6F-1B3B-4BA5-9A34-9754280CC466.jpg

From what I can make out, that cooler pipe is on the wrong side of the other pipe. If you look at the front of the sump you will see a boss. There is a P clamp that bolts in there that secures that pipe.

Looks to me like someone couldn't be bothered getting the line repaired or replaced with the proper crimp fitting.

Totally agree, I'd expect that line to blow apart based on my experiences. A flare and hose clamp is not even close to being good enough in that particular line.
    Cheers

Thanks for the response. So your recommendation would be to put in a new line which is within my capability but still not sure if there should be a bracket in there or if it’s just self supporting?

Wish I could just go and have a look at another TD5 auto!

I'm not sure about the bracket, but most definately replace that line with an entire new one. It should go from the gearbox to the cooler.

If it has an additional cooler, then fit proper pirtek type multibarb pressure fittings to the new line.
    Cheers

Definitely NOT self supporting. It'l probably droop and get tangled up in the driveshaft . Shown here is the P clip and the crimped fitting. Pretty sure Mario and Heather can supply the pipes, but they ain't cheap. The pipe you are looking at is a PITA to get at on the trans, ask me how I know... I had to drop the engine pipe and the XYZ switch on mine. a 19mm crows foot spanner is just the thing ( Thanks, Dave ).

Amazing how quickly 6 litres of oil can get pumped out! I can still see the trail I left on the road from a six weeks ago. Of course there was also a failure to proceed.
