To fix the rust, I plan too sand off the rust, then primer coat, then top coat. The colour will not quite match, but as it is a not easily seen area, not an issue. I have Chawton White touch up paint, but it does not match after 18 years of sun. I am not using rust remover, it does not seem to do a good enough job.
The clear coat on the roof has come off in two spots. How do I fix this? Acrylic clear coat spray can?
How do I hold the can upright to spray the roof? Tie the winch bar to a crane and lift?![]()

Ask Epic Dragon, she's a time served automotive spray painter.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.
White's super easy to blend. My old Patrol was about seven different shades of the stuff as it got to the point I'd just through any white I had on it when needed and you'd need to be looking for it to notice. The technique is not to have hard edges unless it is meeting a hard edge, but to progressively feather each new coat of paint progressively further into the original finish.
Clear coat is a PITA. It's no doubt flaking away at the edge, so it needs to be sanded and feathered back to good stuff whilst doing as little damage to the base coat as possible - not easy!
And before you go all "Gods must be crazy" to spray the roof, a lot of modern pressure pack sprays can be used in funky positions without issue and most should have a rotatable fan on the nozzle to allow setting between horizontal and vertical. Worst case scenario is use the fullest cans you have for horizontal surfaces.
