I can see the dropping the comms circuitry to the tranny from the manual version to save costs, but getting rid of an input buffer for the clutch switch on the Auto versions doesn't make much sense. <- literally pennies saved. but yeah, Landrover.
Could a JTAG setup suck the main program out of the ecu for swapping to a different version? (DiscoTD5.com. aka offtrack would know)
In an emergency the manual ECU will work in the Auto, one just needs to then change gears manually!
