I wouldn’t think anyone with a V8 would be fixated on fuel consumption.

Yes, as long as you don't ignore the gauge.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

Most of the time. I mean once all the spark components are up to spec it dropped from 22l/100 to 16l/100. Bit of an exhaust leak atm so back up to 18l/100. But when the car cost $1500 and people are buying landcruisers at $120k i reason thats a lot of petrol i can buy.

For sure, a lot have purchased y62 patrols for exactly the same reason.

Years ago I believe the price difference between a 1HD-FTE cruiser and the V8 petrol equivalent was around $10k from the dealer.

So petrol was the cheaper way to go, until of course it came to resale.

But if you only pay $1500 for the car, there's not a lot of downside!

However when you go on a trip and you are filling up twice as often as everyone else ... That grates a bit.

But a V8 petrol disco is a great conversation starter! And they do sound good.

Somehow i dont think an LC,same age, mileage and condition as a $1500 D2 is worth anywere near $120K?

I think the idea was that the$1500 disco keeps up with whatever the$120k cruiser can do, and it'll take a long long time to close the financial gap with fuel and repairs.... And it will.

True, but,If you look at it that way,it’s like comparing apples and oranges.

And the new model sells for that sort of coin,so the V8 would also be considerably less one would think.

I agree, but I guess if you can have the exact same fun but spend over $100k less to do it, and not be worried about a few war wounds.... It makes sense, but if you CAN afford the expensive car in the first and also afford to fix, then that's ok as well!
