Mine does it, but it always seems to be at the same place. I think it's radio/electrical interference.

Thanks all for the replies, feel a bit better about it now, looks like it's just a 'Land Rover thing', she has been behaving impeccably ever since so I'm hoping it's just a rare annoyance that lock and unlock will get around, was thinking about it, it's happened twice in 6 months, once warm and once first thing in the morning, no rhyme or reason so I'm accepting its just now it is.

The only really irritating thing is that the wife's one doesn't do it!

Should add, that the D1 300Tdi sometimes would not start / turnover and required at least 10 turns of the key or have to sit and wait for 10 mins or so and then it would fire first turn. The D2 was changed from the 433kHz (cheap way to get the lowering PLIP) and this has happened before and after, the D2a never an issue to date.

The remote red dash light on the D2 does go out when the problem occurs (BCM has gotten the correct key signal) which for mine is not casual of an electrical interference issue. Had thought it was a low battery issue but now have both front batteries on the starter circuit and it still occurs. Have heard of issues with the key tumbler itself which has needed changing out so maybe the cause is somewhere in there with connectors - except the fact that one lock and unlock and it starts...

Maybe as noted, it is just one of those LR things with no real explanation or fix.

Mine's only ever done it in front of the automatic doors at Puma.

I heard of something similar happening to a Jaguar, parked under low hanging power lines in Innisfail. It was loaded on a tilt tray, to go back to Cairns, but started as soon as it was moved.
