A good unit will use blutooth to stream spotify etc, you can use maps from your phone, I use Waze and blutooth the directions into my Kenwood from my Samsung phone. I also use the Ipad for HEMA maps.
Does anyone have recommendations for a single din head unit upgrade?
For my 1999 discovery 2, I am looking for a head unit with android auto, Spotify, maps, etc. I also want it to have a reverse camera (or capability to install my own). I have read through some of the other forums and threads and have seen very mixed opinions without any follow up after they purchase the model. The joying head units have been mentioned a lot as they are obviously a it more budget friendly however I have seen heaps of negative reviews of the companies products as a whole.
(Not exactly on a strict budget but would love to keep the price as low as possible aka)

Unfortunately I am trying to avoid using my phone for anything aside from a bluetooth connection as I am still on my green Ps. I am looking for the sort of functionality of android auto where I can connect my phone via bluetooth and then access my music and maps through the unit exclusively. mostly just after some good recommendations for cost effective units for this
There are many flip out screens such as pioneer
AVH-Z7050BT - Pioneer
Alpine

There are others out there of course and will be much cheaper.
The difficulty with the D2 is how the unit is deep within the console, not flush along with the unit being on a raised lip
I went the alpine way but they had a unit which fitted pretty well with just a bit of cutting of the sides of the console

I love that Alpine one! May have gone that way myself had I known about them when got mine.
I have a Pioneer fold out one, it works really well and I do enjoy being able to fold it up out of the way when required. Also have it connected to a reverse camera.

This applies to mobile phones that are handheld, in a phone holder or hands-free, for example, via Bluetooth.
