    CDL Front nose installation

    Hi fella's,

I was about to fit a complete cdl equipped transfer case into my D2a TD5, but when I took the bottom plate off for an inspection I found rust on the gearsets. I'm a bit annoyed with myself as I've obviously stored the TC box incorrectly. Anyway, what I'm now thinking of doing is just the front cdl part only without removing the existing TC box. I seem to recall a "how to" or guide and found some references but not what I think I'm looking for. Can anyone help point me in the right direction. Many thanks, James NZ

Depending on how much spare time you have, you might find something here. Mike covers a fair bit of LT230 stuff. Check out the entire playlist cos you should find what you need. I don't know how to just link to the playlist and don't have time to search it.

Thanks for the links guys. I'll go and have a watch, although I've decided I'll pull the existing TC box out so I can change the auto output shaft seal and the TC in/out seals etc.

Sierrafery, would you be able to help with wiring info. My 03 D2A doesn't have any wiring for the diff lock switch and the TC temp switch which I'd also like to hook up.

    Thanks

Yes, i'll help you just check two things:
    1. Isnt there an unused connector with black/green wire above the TC?
    2. Start the engine, remove fuse F25 and push the brake pedal, is the diff-lock warning coming on then or not?

According to the results i'll tell you what to do.... btw can you work with the connector views from RAVE's electrical library if i tell you the connector and pins or must i attach the pictures?

Hi, thank you for your help.

    1. Isnt there an unused connector with black/green wire above the TC? There is only one plug in this area, it is a grey plug with a red/pink-black wire going to the low ratio detect switch
    2. Start the engine, remove fuse F25 and push the brake pedal, is the diff-lock warning coming on then or not? Nope, no warning light.

According to the results i'll tell you what to do.... btw can you work with the connector views from RAVE's electrical library if i tell you the connector and pins or must i attach the pictures? I have rave installed and did have it working under compatibility mode but when Windows 11 did an upgrade to version 22H2 it stopped working. I have tried to get it going again but have been unsuccessful. Googling hasn't bought a solution either.

Looking further I found two lucar connectors down by the XYZ switch. They are black and black/green, but I thought these were for the transfer box temperature sensor? Picture is of terminals down by xyz switch.

The second picture shows the part of the old loom that was on the donor transfer box. The lucar terminals with black & black/blue were connected to the diff lock switch.

    thanks, James NZ

Ok, so you found the wiring for the temp switch you are sorted with that, all you have to do is to fit a temp switch to your TB and plug it in then the transmission warning will come on if it's the case...

seems that the main part of the diff-lock wiring is missing on your's so you'll have to route a wire and splice into the black/blue wire at C0223 pin 39 the other side of the switch to earth, you can check the warning by giving earth to that BU wire there).... the pic is from LHD, on RHD is on the other side like in the mirror, in line with the orange airbag plug but the pinout is important which is the same, make sure that the wire in pin 39 is black/blue cos there are cases when C0223 and C0229 are in swapped positions and the connectors are looking very similar just the wire colours are different in them even though on some modells 0229 can be green while 0223 is black on all. Good luck
