I have personal experience with such no communication faults(unfortunately for me), just confirm that no comms with any ECU not just V8 ECU and BCU, here are the complicated things:

If no comms with any ECU at all there can be more reasons:
    1. diagnostic line interrupted between the OBD port and the header C0286-15(where the signal splits to all ECUs) or interruption to BCU C0661-4( or corrosion in that header)
    2. BCU fault
    3. any other ECU fault which disturbes the K line signal as the BCU acts a a gateway for all
    4. something else i dont know about

as an example i've seen cases when the ACE ECU which was unused due to conversion but still in situ developped a short in it and the whole diagnostic line was disabled so everything became normal once it was unplugged and another time the SRS ECU disturbed the whole thing

complex troubleshooting is needed and a basic knowledge about electrics to know how to read a circuit diagram corroborated by the electrical library/connector views, if you are skilled enough check yourself if not ask for help from somebody who understands and do the following:

    - first of all check continuity between the OBD port pin 7 and C0286-15, C0286-18 to C0661-4 it's hardwired with purple wire all the way, if no continuity rewire that circuit
    - if there is continuity completely unplug one ECU at a time(all of them included) and try to connect with the BCU that way, if it connects with one unplugged that ECU is fubar, if no comms no matter what ECU is unplugged you have to rule out the BCU even though it can be another interruption too in the circuit but it's hard to find it and would be feckless to chase that untill the rest was ruled out. Good luck, you'll need it with this.

PS. i almost forgot, you have to disconnect the battery negative lead before any disconnection/reconnection of any ECU

I wish there was somewhere to store posts like this one from SF. Sure, I have copied it to a note on m Mac, but....
I'm not a total newbie, but there are a few members here whose depth of knowledge in specific areas is priceless.

I dont have access to the vehicle at the moment but you have given me something to think about , it has been fitted with an after market LPG gas conversion and it could be possible that the engine wiring has been altered for that and is causing the problem even though it runs ok .
