Try to reprogram the fob cos there are cases when it's lost so it can be detected but not sync'd, the code is on the back of the fob's pcb Nanocom Evolution Key (Plip) Program for a Discovery 2 - YouTube
Another vexing, at least to me, question is why my central locking has ceased functioning with the fob. Button on the dash works, as does the key when turned in the lock. So the locks work. In the Valeo page on the nanocom under the RF section it tells me a key press is detected, which suggests the receiver in the roof works.
Getting the D2 back on the road is certainly turning into a nanocom 101 for me.

SupporterQuestion is, how is the nanocom detecting that the RF receiver is working?
One of two ways.
1/. it detects the RF signal in some way, obviously not directly as nanocom doesn't have RF ability, but maybe on the power line to the BCU or something
2/. it just detects the output via the lines into the magical, mystical inner workings of the BCU.
Do you have the alarm/immobliser active/deactivated? I deactivated the immobiliser a long time ago after it caused issues.
Reason for this question is, if immobiliser is deactivated, has the key lost sync with the BCU to allow wireless unlocking?
Try key syncing via nanocom.
If that isn't the problem, then tracing potential electrical disturbances would be next step.
If you check through RAVEs electrical library, the dash switch, the door lock and the RF receiver all use 'separate' lines into the BCU. Whether they operate in separate processes in the BCU itself, dunno. I have less knowledgde on the inner workings of the BCU than you do too!
But on the balance of probabilities, I would say that the lines out of the RF box, to the BCU would be the issue.
RF box input to the BCU are at pins 5(purple/grey) and 6(black/brown) connector C0661(yellow connector)
Dash swtich connects at pins7(yellow/pink) on C0662(white) and pin16 at C0660(grey)
Door lock switch connects at pins5(blue/green) at C0660(grey again) and pin22(blue/grey) in C0661(yellow again).
So you can see they all connect at different points, but whether they all use different paths within the BCU, sorry can't tell 'ya.
Note: I recall you had issues with viewing RAVE in your computer(which I kind of recall it was Mac-ish based).
Have you sorted this out? if not, and you have the CD, just browse the CDs folder for the relevant pdf files you need, and transfer them to the laptop.
Can help to locate the files you need, as long as you have the ability to read generic standalone PDF files on your computer.
Arthur.
All these discos are giving me a heart attack!

As long as nanocom RF test has passed and the key was detected the receiver and BCU connection is OK , the receiver reacts to the fob's signal and sends that info to the BCU which confirms that to nanocom...if the link between the BCU and receiver fails or the receiver is bad the RF test fails as well... in this case as the key was detected on RF test it's a syncronisation problem, if a programming can't fix it then the fob can be faulty as it can send only the carrier signal without the code or the BCU is at fault
BTW , Tins, dont you have a second key to try with that too?
