These are avail from several companies for the boot, but haven't seen any for the front or rear passager, theres no space for it anyways...

This is what I've been using in the Defender but no reason why something similar could be built for a Disco.
The rack is supported at the front by two bolts which also act as hinges and are attached to the cargo barrier. To access it you loosen a couple of wingnuts at the rear and it hinges down.
I usually carry soft stuff such as bedding. I have had chairs up there with some soft stuff to hold them firmly.
Alternatively, you can use some form of netting bur I find rigid shelf keeps things in place better.

On my old D1, I used one of those small stretchy cargo nets doubled over and strung up between the rear passenger roof hand holds and attached the back of the roof. It worked well for soft light stuff and was cheap (already had one lying around), effective and easily removable.

AH those are really awesome, so practical that you can lower the tray down to put things in there. I was thinking about the cargo nets, but also a army style cargo net to separate the rear cargo bay and the passenger seats, instead of something metallic, but not sure how i could get those. great ideas

My L322 has a retractable net, instead of a cargo barrier. Perhaps you could make one fit a Discovery.
