    Replacement rear bars

Hi all, does anybody know if replacement plastic or replica fibreglass rear bars are available for Disco2's?

Or is the only option steel rear bars?
    Cheers

I once saw a NOS rear bar offered at over $1K. anything other than a new bar that has been in a dark warehouse is a no no as the sun makes them brittle as I am sure you know.
Funny when I broke mine up to fit the steel bar the top broke apart but underneath was supple.

Absolutely, thats the problem with them. They're all cracked and even the good 2nd hand ones wont be too far behind.

Steel is the sensible and only viable option IMO. Same price for an item that will outlast the car.

Just trying to keep the weight out of the car, especially in that location. I built a really good steel bar, but a plastic bumper cover is so much lighter for touring and if I'm not slapping around in ruts anymore.

Excellent, huge thank you! The part number!

Looks like they are still being advertised, hopefully they will be in stock.

They are an expensive bit of plastic, about $1000-1100 plus international shipping.

Edit: looking like it might be a no stock, no eta scenario..
    Cheers

I think the weight difference is negligible, Simon, unlike the price.
Note the price of the out of stock, plastic bar at the bottom of the linked page.

I'm guessing there wont be any availability of them either.

Oh well, I might have to dust this off and fit some lights to it.

    Cheers

A school project, Simon. They learn to make moulds and do fibreglassing. They make a few and flog them off to pay for materials.
