    +ve batt terminal replacement

Anybody seen something similar to this in Oz? I have probably done as much as I can to mine at this point. I will try once more but I'm running out of room, so to speak, and the stuff from the usual suspects is quite frankly crap.

This thing works out to about $250 Aus shipped.😱

That's insane. Surely an off the shelf battery post and a couple of crimp lugs (properly crimped) would be cheaper, easier and more reliable? I can't see inside the barrels, but my experience with "after-market" connectors with allen screws is the screw digs directly into the cable which is "not an optimal" way of terminating a stranded cable.

I agree with that. I would hope that the allen screw would push on a gate of some kind, rather than just the cable. I won't be buying one of these, but the D2 +ve terminal is, err, difficult. A lot of current passes through both cables, and LR's solution to issues is to supply an entire harness. I may have to find a decent auto sparky and see what they use.

This is what I've got MTA 1507704 1507704 | MTA 1507704 17MM Battery Terminal Battery Mounted Direct Power Outputs, gives you 1xM8 and 2xM6 studs. You can get 50mm2 M8 lugs easily, 35mm2 M6 lugs are around but require some effort.

These are what I have been using for a while now.
Costs ~5 eur per piece around here.

As I make new more flexible battery cables than the standard d2 cables, I put those in.

Only negative thing I can think of, they don't have a cover on and I haven't even really really searched for one.

Hmm. Seems they sell terminals to suit. Might order something and see how it goes. Looks better than the local offerings.

Actually, they're not too far from this place. Two birds...

Yeah, those 3 ways are good.
I've got them on my D1(both main and aux).
Handy for those times when you need to add more elec stuff, and also handy when disconnecting elect stuff, and you don't want to lose memories in any accessories and so forth.

I didn't like their cable lugs tho, but easy fix. On the D1 I ended up with some lugs which I soldered onto the main cables and then bolted to these battery clamps.

On the D2 tho, I cheaped out(ie. just lazy!) and crimped the cables into the lugs.

If you want long term .. don't crimp .. solder.
I've read arguments for and against, but D1(soldered) lugs have outlasted the D2(crimped), even tho D1 was done about a year earlier.
The crimped lugs are still 'holding' up .. ie. working, but they are slowly coming loose. I will need to rectify at some point.

Then they weren't properly crimped to begin with.

    Well that looks nice..
Gotta see if I can find ones around here.

I got the terminals off a local shop that had those and they didn't have covers for them, aaaand I've actually just forgotten about it.
