Standard height shocks and bump stops with a 20mm front lift? What about airbags?

    My car currently:
    - 2003 D2 V2 4.0L with SLS and ACE
    - Standard height, no bullbar, factory bumpers, no second battery
    - All factory: shocks, coils, airbags, bump stops
    - Running 265/60/R18 tyres (so 1.5" bigger than factory)

A friend gave me some low-mileage front springs (Dobinsons C51-032) which give a small 20mm lift.

    I want to buy:
    - new shocks front and rear
    - new rear airbags

    Considering:
    - new bump stops front and rear

    Questions for you guys:

    1) Do I need to buy all of those standard height, or for a 2-inch lift?

    2) Do I need to buy spacers for standard airbags, or 2-inch lift airbags? Or just borrow a Nanocom to lift the back?

    3) I read on this thread from 2013 that I need to make a mod to the ride height sensors? A metal bracket.

    4) Any other mods I need to do or consider for this?

FYI for shocks: there are fancy Bilstein (standard height only), Tough Dog, or cheaper Britpart ones (sub-brands Cellular Dynamic or Super Gaz) at either standard height or 2" lift.

I've got standard height bilsteins with a Dobinson medium front / light rear 2" lift.
    They are horrible.
I don't know if its because of the lift, the springs, i'm too light or something else, but for me they don't work.

Sorry to hear mate! What's wrong with it?

And so you've got a 50mm lift yeah?

yeah just the standard 50mm lift which is probably 35mm in real life.
I'm not sure what's wrong, but next on the list is to play around with various shocks or swap out the springs for air bags or just different springs.

Funny though, she's brilliant for high speed dirt and corrugations but rough as at slow speed. The ace / sway bay delete helped somewhat.

I have a 2 inch lift all round. Longer springs at the front with longer shockers to suit.

For the rear I have spacers between the air bags with 2 inch longer shockers to suit.

An adapter to attach the height sensor to maintain height.

I highly recommend Les Richmond for suspension. He does know his stuff. I purchased all mine about 11 years ago and I am very happy with the result.
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."
