    Slave cylinder heat shield?

    Having just changed the master and slave cylinders on my D2a and then consulting RAVE post job complete, I noted that according to the diagram, I'm missing item 4, a heat shield.....

    With the slave cylinder sitting directly above the exhaust, I guess it's there to provide some protection for the rubber seals rather than to stop the fluid from boiling.....

    My Defender doesn't have one, but there is more clearance between the two on that despite the larger 3-inch pipe work.

    Is it worth replacing with some other form of thermal shielding?

    It could just be a 2A thing where they have the catalytic converter?
    My 99 (pre pollution) td5 doesn't have one
