    D2 SLS compressor running but not inflating unless solenoids powered manually

    Hi there

    I've checked a few threads on this but can't find a match for my scenario

    My D2 tD5 was parked for a couple of months and when I last tried to take it out the compressor wouldn't start - blown fuse.

    I've got it going again by swapping parts with another compressor and serviced all the rings etc.

    Now the compressor fires up on ignition as per normal but the airbags are not inflating. After a while the compressor cuts out. 2-3mn

    I can manually inflate the bags, and they retain their pressure. The bags were changed recently.

    When unplugging the solenoids plugs (which i cleaned) and giving direct 12v from an aux battery into the solenoid pins, bags inflate.

    Tried clearing all codes with an iCarSoft reader although there's no SLS menu in there, and power cycling the ECU.

    Ride height sensors are firmly plugged in and one was changed recently.

    So it shouldn't be the compressor motor, the fuse, the solenoids, the height sensors, the airbags, or the air lines...?

    Somehow the solenoids don't open when the compressor engages.

    Any ideas aside from switching to coils?

    You'll definitely need a nanocom to see what is going on. Have you got all the doors closed when it's cycling the pump? This can affect it as well. You might need to manually set the height again on a nanocom.

    Not 100% sure but I believe you need to reset the ride heights. Someone else will know for sure. But if you need a Nanocom then I could come out sometime later next week with mine.

    Hi, measure if you get voltage between vehicle earth and pin 5 or 10 of C0377/0391 when the compressor kicks in to inflate... if yes, check in the solenoid's plugs too... see attachments and if you know a bit of electrics you'll understand why

    Thanks for the responses.

    Unfortunately my neighbour who's far more mechanically versed than I am tried to have a look yesterday morning and when lowering a jack he snapped a ride height sensor...

    He's offered to swap the air bags with coils if I source them, at this point I'm pretty close to resigning myself to doing the conversion rather than sink more cash into the SLS without certainty it will work with just a new height sensor and plugging in a nanocom

    Until an other issue comes up with the SLS, which I've sunk quite a bit of time and cash into in the last 5 years...

    I need to sleep on it but it feels like the pragmatic decision to convert and sell the parts that are in good nick to effectively cancel out the cost of the coils, and never have to worry about it again.

    I'll swap you my King coils for your airbags..... I want SLS back.

    Sounds like up have 'zero' height in the memory.

    So I ended up swapping to springs and have zero regrets so far.

    Only issue is the SLS light is permanently on and the alarm will occasionally go off, or, last weekend, just constantly while driving 4h to St Arnaud at highway speed. I pulled the fuse under the hood for the drive back which resulted in blissful silence until I went over a pothole and it rang again.

    @RRT, wondering if you're still in the area and able to plug in to update the SLABS or whatever needs to be done? That'd save me $150 for Eastern Ranges to do the same thing in 2 minutes.......
