Further sleuthing tells me it's the red hose between the cooler and regulator.

Next question is how does it connect to the pressure regulator, clip or threaded?
I'm assuming this is the device bolted to the inlet manifold.
Mine has a hose failure, at the back of aforesaid gadget.
Where does this hose go to? Presumably the pressure regulator.
Is the hose available as a part, or only as a component of some repair kit?

Is there any real necessity for the fuel to return via the cooler? I have an EGR blank.

If it's the hose which goes to the regulator that's part of the FPR assy, it comes fitted to it you can't buy it as spare, the other side goes to the filter and iirc that's available

Thanks SF, I read that some FPRs are two hose, others three, is that correct?
My car is a late D2a.

the D2a has the one with the longer pipe attached too(nr 14) Discovery 2 1998 - 2004 Classic (l318) / Injector, Pipes & Filter (2.5l 5 Cyl Turbo Diesel) | Jaguar Land Rover Classic Parts which goes to the head

SubscriberJust to be clear, if it's the hose you describe, then it will NOT come with the fuel pressure reg, it is not a hose that leaks often ( unlike the one that does come with the FPR ) so take it to a hydraulic fittings place and they'll make one up.
P.S. EGR cooler is at the front of the head on the D2a's and can be removed along with a few hoses if you have an EGR delete.
I hope this clears it up.

A is the hose I need, it has blown off the fitting at the cooler end. Is the regulator end a threaded coupling?
B has recently been replaced.
