    British motor imports

Hey everyone, i have a suspected fuel pump on it's way out on my td5 discovery 2.
A quick google search brings up a few results for a new pump.
My question is, has anyone bought a td5 fuel pump from British motor imports and if so, was it worth it?
Price is $230 compared to the vdo $700 odd.

    Thanks heaps.

Ive tried a few cheap one's but never had any luck, becoming noisy after short time so went for genuine vdo pump only A2C59511614
its a bit fiddly to remove from housing but if you take your time and dont force the plastic retainers etc its all good
    Cheers tt

I haven't had to replace mine, but I did repair it. Not the pump itself, but the housing it sits in. Bit of a PITA to get back in but ok

Never heard anything good about the cheap ones you can get, everyone is like T_T and ends up with the VDO or Siemens. But who knows? You might get lucky.

I'll second that (or is it 3rd that), my experience from years ago anything other than VDO soon becomes noisy.

The cheap ones are good for the level sender, wasn't about to replace an otherwise working pump with an exxy vdo one and while you can get the sender separately it was twice the price of the cheapest pump I could find.

Fair enough. That's why I rebuilt the frame part on mine. Pump itself is still working.

Pump became noisy and the fuel gauge was all over the place. I have no idea how it broke.
