Clark rubber(because of ease of attainability) pool filter material. They have different grades of it. I chose a more open structure than the original type. Much more resilient than the original(or even aftemarket type stuff).
I fitted it to my D1 years and years ago(maybe 9 .. can't remember).
Didn't have enough for the D2 then, but didn't matter the plenum on the D2 was in too many pieces.
About 2 years now, I got a Chinese plenum of AliEx for a decent price. Plenum fit and quality is more than acceptable, but my only complaint was the same filer foam they used. Only 2 years, and already it's getting hard, and I know if I handle it any more times(it keeps shifting) .. it's going to fall to bits.
As it's under the bonnet and gets no sun, it's not UV that's causing deterioration, it must be heat/cold cycles or something.
The pool filter material is a bit thicker, but it does compress to fit into the slots easily.
