Hi All,
I destroyed one of my 255/55/R18 Cooper Discoverer H/T tyres on my disco mucking around on Stockton beach last week. Now I have a non matching set of tyres on the rear (different make and tread depth) and no spare.
I am trying to work out a way of getting a matching set of highway tyres and have heard that you can put BMW X5 wheels on a Disco 2. Has anybody actually done this?
I look forward to hearing from anybody who has knowledge of this.

Ron do you know what the differences in offset are and what type of wheel nuts suit (BMW, D3 etc) - or anything else re fitment? I assume the concentric rings are the ones available on Ebay.

No, Sorry Slunnie, dunno about offset on the BMW. I wonder if it's embossed on the rim as done for LR?
I can ask. As you know the P38A and the D2 have a 57.0mm offset.
Yes, the concentric rings are on ebay.

Thats cool, no but thanks for this. It's intereting to see what options are out there and what's needed to fit them and the fitment implications. The other intersting one I think would be the latest commodore wheels which are also 5x120 PCD and now updated with M14 studs which are the same as the D2 and I can only assume the P38a. Not sure also about their offset, centralising hub diameter and load ratings.

Thanks Ron - You are spot on.
I can't find the 'hub centering rings' you mentioned on eBay. I am probably doing something stupid - lol.
I looked into this a few months ago as a guy at work with an X5 is wanting to get replacement rims for his car (more bling factor). The offset on the rims is quite large and the tyres are quite expensive being 19 inch profile. He hasn't got the replacements yet but if your interested I'll find out how much he wants for them with his fairly new tyres on them. For road wheels the would look very nice on a D2.
I'm waiting for my neighbour to come home from holidays. He has a late model X5 so I was gunna check out his rims.

Look for hubcentric or hub centric.
See, for example: eBay Motors: Land Range Rover hubcentric hub rings for wheels rims (item 350011271310 end time Jan-10-08 02:04:51 PST)

Thanks dobbo for the offer.
I have purchased a set of 4 complete with Michelin tyres. The tyres have 85% tread left and the rims are un-marked. I have been told that the tyres are around $600 a corner new - ouch.
So my next trick is to get to Melb. (in a couple of weeks) and try them out. If I like the look on the Disco I will keep the rims, otherwise I will swap the tyres onto my current LR 18" rims. Either way I get some nice highway tyres which is important to me as I did 50,000 highway k's in the last 12 months.
Thanks to all for your feedback.
