    PAS reservoir

    Hi All,

Is the fluid swirling about in the PAS reservoir normal for a D2 TD5 at idle. The RAVE CD states that at neutral, the pressure inside the system remains very low so I don't know if this activity in the reservoir is normal or not. As you can probably tell, this is my first vehicle with power steering.

yep, the oil is sucked into the pump from the middle of the bottom of the reservior and returned on the outside.

its caused by the corilois effect (ron spelling check post #2 please) tilting the reservior a little can stop it but so long as the pumps not drawing air into itself and cavitating its not really a problem.
