D1 Diesel
D1 V8
D2 Diesel
D2 V8
"There are three types of lies - lies, damn lies, and statistics."
I'm not sure of the relevency of the poll.
Maybe should be:
D1D - Porblems
D1D - No Problems
D2D - Problems
D2D - No Problems
D1V8 - Problems
D1V8 - No Problems
D2V8 - Problems
D2V8 - No Problems
Then you could run a poll on what kinds of problems... could be endless polling coming up....

I agree with many comments here about the value of this poll.
I always have some issue to fix with my D2V8 and expect it since it has 182,000km on it but don't see continuous tinkering with it as a problem, more a passion!
A blown engine in a remote location through no lack of TLC is a problem, but that's generally down to severe driving, not engine design.
Not having my D2 was a bigger problem![]()
I dont really think there is enough information in the question to create enough data for a balanced result.
In other words.........This poll wont work
In most cases though, all vehicals are about the same in terms of maintenance needed but not what the maintenance costs but as far as breakdowns go a lot can be put down to maintenance so in that case you need to know history before you can ask who's had trouble.
I may not service my car at all and complain that I go through engines every 50,000kms or so and blame it on it being a LandRover/A D1 or a Diesel etc etc.
But for what it's worth, the only thing that has ever stopped my Disco 1 300TDI auto is one of the oil cooler lines came loose off the block, tightened it up and replaced the lost oil, took me longer to get the oil and toolbox out of the back so more of an inconvenience but still in my opinion a breakdown![]()
D1 V8
Had a faulty petrol pump wiring harness, common I believe.
And had to replace a core plug that had failed due to flashing ingress at manufacture.
