If you have the Rave CD, there is a section in the accessory fitting chapter on fitting extinguishers.
Hey there
Where have people mounted their fire extinguoshers in their Discos?
Just fitted a cargo barrier but think it might be a bit rattley on there. The one I have would fit nicely on the ledge of the rear door - between the door lock button thingy and the kick-up behind the spare wheel and would be pretty easy to reach.
Probably sounds silly but, just not sure about the effect on it of full sun in summer coming through the back window. What sort of pressure safety margin do they work on? I'm sure it's adequate but some real life experience would be good...
Cheers

Mine's in on bracket bolted to the back seat, driver's side of the cargo barrier, the extinguisher has a velcro strap around it holding it in place as well as the mounting bracket.
Why put it in the rear when you may want to get to it quickly?

Mine is fitted to my cargo barrier on the passenger side, inside the car and not the boot. Whole bracket is cable tied firmly to the barrier and has a quick release clamp so the whole bottle comes out quick if needs be, plus my rationaly is that if things go pair shaped while I am driving, my passenger can grab the thing quicker or I can reach accross easier. I also have my first aid kit cable tied to the other side of the cargo barrier inside.
As a side note, although heavy, I also carry a 2nd snatch strap, couple of shackles, which controler and some gloves in a ruck sack on the floor of the back seats.........if I were to ever get stuck and not be able to get into the back, I would have zero access to any gear to get me out
Aye, Mick
Cheers guys,
I'll look into those options...Just not sure about the cabin side of the barrier...what with 2 little people's heads bobbing around in the back seats.
Cheers

Yes Land Rover has the fire extinguisher on the passenger side kickboard (is that the term? So long since I have used it). Anyway, to the left side of the passenger's feet, on the hard plastic 'wall' lining. If you have the Rave CD, there is a section in the accessory fitting chapter on fitting extinguishers
From memnory RAVE shows a LHD install so I haven't verified if there are any hitches fitting it to RHD, can't imagine there would be, except I'd measure carefully this area to make sure the extingisher will fit in the space.
Mine is in a kitchen-type wire basket (along with other stuff) that has been cable-tied to the rear of the cargo barrier. To prevent rattles it sits in a cut-down 2l wine cask. I have a cargo barrier so that I don't have to carry potentially deadly projectiles in the cabin area. It may not be as accessible in the rear but is a lot safer.
Stephen.
Mines behind my feet, mounted on the floor directly in front of the drivers seat.
Cheers guys
Will explore those options!
Duncan, in front of the seat is an intersting one - easy access I'd say. Though I keep my tyre deflator/cd face plate in the little bin under the seat so if it doesn't foul that might be a good option as I always have the seat all the way back on the rails.
Cheers
