    V8 Engine mounts

    Hello,

Turns out I need to replace my engine mounts ( 02 V8 ), can anyone tell me if it's hard, easy, impossible?, what to look out for etc ( other than my hamfisted self ).

Is it simply a case of carefully jacking the engine up or is there more to it?

    cheers,

    Ray

Nup (relatively)easy on a RRC anyway and I assume same mounts.
Just loosen off the fan shroud, maybe take off the Fan, undo the bolts on the mounts and jack it up until you can remove the mounts.

I suggest that it might be easier to get the new mounts in if you cut the bolts down by say 1/3 as they are unecessarily long. Make sure you have correct nuts as different brands have UNCoarse, UNFine , metric etc.

According to the RAVE workshop manual cd it's just a case of jacking up the engine and they should swap right out.

Not attempted it myself due to lack of equipment/decent workspace but looked reasonably straight forward.

Take a look at the QT ones and you will probably never have to do it again.

QT make 'captive' engine mounts. They don't fail any where as much as regular mounts. And even if the rubber does split the mounts still retain their ability to keep the engine/gearbox in situ.
They are very popular with the racing fraternity.

i bought some Jaguar engine mounts for my 110. they were about half the price and a harder rubber, last heaps longer.
my mate was working as the parts guy at Alto in artarmon at the time and had no trouble getting them.
i can find out part numbers if you're interested

Cheers Barney, that would be great, do you know if they would fit a D2?
