I've noticed this post on UK forums too. Where exactly are you located David? You've omitted that bit from your profile.

Frankly I think the only person to benefit from any legal action will be some lawyer who only drives a Rangie around Chelsea, Toorak or where ever in the world he happens to be. I agree with Dobbo (and I've had one fail!), waste of time.

He's UK based I would say as he has the prices in UK pounds.

I agree with Dobbo, Tombie , etc.. and dont think you have a chance. I am not even going to say good luck as I think the idea of claiming is ridiculous in all honesty.

I would say unless the car has been owned by you from new, and is still under the manufacturers warranty, with a full daler history, you will be laughed out of court.

IMHO, this is straight forward. It means that it is not re-greasable and the lubrication at manufacture is suitable for the life of the component.

When worn the relevant parts should be replaced.

The arguments for making the joint this way include:

Foreign matter can enter the bearing through damaged grease nipples, or if the nipple or grease gun is not clean.

    Lubrication holes weaken the joint.

Over greasing can damage the seals, allowing later entry of foreign matter.

Good luck, but it was your decision to drive the vehicle without ensuring that it was in good order.
