    D2 Radio

    Hi Guys,
I have a standard D2 stero with CD stacker under the drivers seat, however when I got the car it did not come with the security code and the battery has been disconnected.

When the car was in at Range Rov I watched them key in a code which did not work and they said It was probably stuffed, however I am trying to understand how they knew the code.

    My questions are:
    Is there a generic code?
If so does anyone know what it is?
I would like to try myself before forking out $$ for a new head unit.

Also if I do go out and get a new radio, is there any specific brand that is compatible with the factory LR CD stacker?

    Thanks for your help guys.

    Cheers

I would try contacting your local Land Rover Service Centre*. They'll want your VIN number and proof of ownership and they should be able to retireve your code from the database. (Not sure if they charge for this service).

    *provided they haven't closed it

    There is a test code for Eurovox units which is 1 1 1 1 or 1 1 1 1 1 1 depending on the radio (if it's a 4 digit code or 6 digit code - D2s are usually 4 digit). I assume you have a Eurovox radio.

That will get the radio working for 5 minutes & the display will flash.

The code can be checked via the radio serial number too.

    Thanks guys,

    Much appreciated Scouse!!!

I tried the pin that was supplied, it was the same one that Range Rov enetered. Unfortunately it does not work.

Apparently when entering it in the numbers should briefly appear on the screen, it's just frozen with code 1 on it and does nothing.

Think a new radio's in order....

Before you condemn the radio, leave it disconnected from power overnight then try it entering the code again.
Also double check that there is permanent power to the radio & also accessory power.

    Whereabouts are you located?
I have some D2 radios sitting in my garage if you do get stuck.

Have you had your radio out for any reason or done outback touring (ie corrugations)? If so take out the radio and check the connectors at the back of it. Last time I took mine out I didnt have it properly connected and some of the functions may not work including the lights.

thanks for that, no outback stuff just stopped lighting up.
i have taken it out to try and figure out how the work and reading here seem to understand the job but cannot be bothered with soldering at this time.
will check again and maybe try the solder job, worse case i buy a replacement for $100 at supercarp.

Thanks Scouse, I'll definately try the disconnect, i'll do it friday night.

It seems like it's getting power, lights come on and it shows on the screen Code 1, however it's frozen on there.

    Will see how I go.

I am located Eastern Suburbs melb (vermont)

Hey guys, out of interest what's the standard system sound like?

I have the stacker under the drivers seat so I'm sure you can work out what system it is.

Is it just worth getting a new head unit, or with all the help that has been put forward worth getting the factory system back in there.

    Thanks!
