Thread: Bleeding air out of D2 heating...water trickling sound under dash

Whats the best way to bleed the air out...I saw in another thread about replacing those crappy plastic hoses that you raise the overflow bottle to do so?
I believe that is the way to do it



Park it on a hill / Heater on / check levels

My brother has the 2000 model with 300k on the clock

His has had the radiator replaced and also the heater core in the console
He had got the sloshing sound also ... and has worked out that it only takes a small amount of coolant loss to do it


Is yours a case of bleed it .... Then a few days later its back??

Thanks matey - is it on a hill with the tail at the lowest part of the hill? Mine only came on when I let my fluid level get low (leaking from the LPG converter) and there must be air trapped in there...I have only bled once and on flat ground and it has got better and stayed better, but its still there. I will try a hill.

If the sloshing persists then that is your "early warning sound" that something is not right and should not be ignored


Areas to look at are .....

Under the intake manifold there is 2 small water hoses going to a square plate under the butterfly (throttle) location
This square plate is thin and can easily warp ... It is held on by 3? small 8mm? bolts .. Make sure that it is not dripping


Also have a look at the carpet under the dash to make sure the cabin heater core is not leaking coolant ... only takes a few drips (drivers side I think)

Also try to look for any signs of green on the radiator behind the fan cowling

These radiators are made of Aluminum ... and they can quickly disintegrate compared to copper cores

Thanks matey. Yep my 95 D1 heater core seals went a while ago..not the core just the o-ring seals. I removed the plate under the throttle body only a few months ago and replaced - preventative maintenance although it looked good.

I have replaced all the crap plastic water pipes with proper heater hose.

I have not seen any water under the dash but I will check.

Got air out with power bleeder....but lost a litre in a month so some air is back again...no water dripping out of tailpipe and no discolouration of oil or water...am I up for head gasket?
