    Help request.

    Hi,

TD5 D2 2000 Auto. I had a regulator fault which left me with no alternator output from early morning, sometime around parking at work, until i noticed it when i left for home in the evening. Resulted in voltage drop on the way home to the point where most of the major systems dropped off. Fortunately the truck was running at this point and i was able to limp home in with no gear change, abs, or anything else.

Mechanic fixed it all, and they were able to clear all the fault codes that cropped up, except the digital odometer, which blinks constantly now. It still works fine, and doesn't bother me, but i suppose at some point it should be sorted. Is this something that can be rectified with nanocom,or other tech support, or is this a dealer only fix.

    thnx in adv

Havent heard of that one before.Try leaving the battery disconected overnite. It may go away.
Worth hooking a Nanocom up as it can acsess the BCU,ecu that controls the body electronics. There is a chance that the mechanic only cleared the engine ECU faults.
Also there is a method of resetting the electronics on a D2.Search for D2 CTRL ALT DEL,pretty sure its Redback who posted how its done.
Goodluck, let us know how you go.

thnks for the advice, and i will search as advised.

Thinking about it a bit, I have a nasty thought that digital maintanance of the odometer will be a dealer only function due to the obvious temptations involved.

But don't let that stop anyone proving me wrong.

The ODO in the dash and the BCU will calibrate to the HIGHER of the 2 values.

    Rovacom can do it.

Tombie, thanks for your reply, but there is probably a whole landrover diagnostic encyclopeadia behind your statement there, . Could you break it down for the less capable among us?

    Okey dokey!

Dash module has built in non-volatile memory - It stores its readings...

BCU (Body control unit) also stores a 'mirror' of the odometer reading...

If either is replaced the 2 units must be 'paired' to one another.
And will calibrate to the highest of the 2 readings...
So fitting a 50,000km dash in a 150,000km vehicle will make the odometer revert to 150,000km once paired.

'Pairing' is done using rovacom or similar....
