Disco S2 Cruise Control No Go!!!!!

    Hey Guys,

Hope someone can help me out with this problem to shut up my mates with their "Typical Land Rover with dodgy electrics" chant that they're having so much fun with.

The other week on way to Victoria went to turn Cruise Control on in my Series 2 V8 Disco and nothing would happen. The light is on on the dash switch but I can't get it to set. Checked the fuse and it's ok, wondering if there's anything else I can check.

Also, not sure if it's connected or not, about the same time my horn stopped working. When you press the horn you can hear the relay click but not horn noise.

    Cheers for any help
    Brad

Its a vacuum pump that sucks a diaphragm to pull on the 2nd acellerator cable.

Most likely you've probably got a hole in yer sucker pipe! Check the hose first its a $1.50 fix.

the rest of that thread talks more about other issues that it could be.

Hey mate, i had a similar problem recenctly and mine turned out to be the sensor near the brake pedal arm near your feet.

The sensor lets the cruise control know if the brake pedal is pushed and cuts off the cruise. i just used some long nosed pliers to adjust the sensor out to it's correct position.

Mine was perished pipes too, they are pretty crappy quality and prone to cracking so very likely you've got a vacuum leak and replacing the pipe on the diaphram will sort it.

Also it may be the cassette (the coiled ribbon cable) that sits between the steering wheel and the col.

As the horn went at the same time - this may suggest this.

I had one go on the D1, lost the horn and the air bag (air bag fault came up on the dash)

The cassette has about 6 or 8 cables in a ribbon form - all coiled up

I opened this thread for my 95 Disco as already mentioned it is full of possible issue's

    http://www.aulro.com/afvb/discovery/...ol-faulty.html

At the moment I need to replace my speedo sensor at the transfer case as mine is currently having a fit not knowing if it should be engaged or not very thrustrating on the highway.

Have you checked all the fuses, there is one lot under the bonnet,& another under the drivers side dash.Mine stopped as a fuse was blown, the fuse also operates the horn. One of the horns was full of water & blew the fuse, fuse also operated cruise control.I cant remember which fuse it was.I disconnected the faulty horn, replaced the fuse & all was ok.
    .

    Hope this helps

    Me too

Having a similar issue with my D2 2002 TD5 just after I got the engine bay professionally cleaned for the NSW Blue Slip. I don't know if there is a probable cause here but the Valet company was recommended by a fourby company in Kotara that specialises in LR. Coincidence?

    Checked the F16 fuse and its ok,checked under dash fuses but it does not have a Horn/CC fuse. Ok so now;

    1. How do you check the relay R13 is ok?
    2. Where is the vacuum piping located for the CC as I have read that can be an issue?

Any advice for this newbee would be appreciated.
    Cheers
