The wires that run across the front of the head to the MAF etc can short due to the plastic wrapping disintigrating thus causing the fuse to blow.
My Discovery TD5 has been a bit of a slug lately. I changed the MAF and found it made no difference. Nanocom showed a flat line for the airflow before and after the change.
Also, there was a constant fault present-
FAULT 01-07 EGR vacum modulatore schort citcuit CURRENT
(Nanocom spelling btw)
The EGR Modulator graph in the Nanocom fuelling was also showing a flat line.
After a trip to Stockton on the weekend (those soft dunes were not friendly if your missing some power ) I decided to get in and have a closer look at the problem. When checking the RAVE Engine Management (TD5) circuit diagram (page 20.1) I noticed that the following items are fed from Fuse 2 in the engine compartment fuse box-
-Throttle - EGR Inlet
-Modulator -EGR
-Sensor - Mass Air Flow
-Solenoid - Wastegate Control
Checked Fuse 2 (15A) and sure enough was blown! Fuse replaced and Disco is driving much nicer. Heaps more power down low and smoother to drive.
And it only took 5 minutes and a 50c to fix.
Not sure what caused the original fuse to blow. Maybe the original MAF sensor. I'll keep an eye on it anyway.

I have the same symptoms, just plain sluggish, went out checked as soon as I read this, damn fuse is fine!
check your fuel pressure, waste gate for sticking and boost modulator valve.
