Talking To wave or not to wave???

Travelled to Brisbane from FNQ and back. Drove a mazda down volvo back, thought I would wave to all landies-- replies: NIL--. So if you saw adill giving you a wave and a smile thanks for nothing, it helped pass the time on a long and boring trip

I drive a 1990 RRC, and recently have waved, or flashed high beam--during daylight, a few times at a defender/country/Series 3--not sure which but think of them all as defenders. I have not recieved a wave back. Do 150 or so km per week day. Perhaps the defender people are in to much shock, to have recieved a wave/headlight flash from a RRC, that they forget to reply. Oh, most of my driving is on windy road so maybe they have had not time to think. Previous posts by defender owners saying a RRC rarely return waves made me decide to do it. Prior to that I only acknowledge other RR.

    Wave

I drive a Defender or S1s aways and I wave to all Land Rovers with the following results:
Frelanders- have had a wave back once.
    Rang Rovers - about 15%
    Discovery - 30%
    Defenders - 99%
Series 2 & 3 -100% allso run off the road doing it.
Series 1 when I am driving a 1 we stop and have a chat.

Driving from Newcastle to Taree on Saturday in my Disco 1 with a 32' rowing boat trailer, I waved at all Landy's and got about a 75% response rate I reckon. Even a wave from a Rangie Sport.

Yesterday coming back I towed a different trailer, 45' and 3¼ton with a Holden Rodeo (awful awful awful - uncomfortable seat and the floor was about 55ºC by the end of it - and about 25L/100km Diesel) and got waves from pretty much everyone in all car types - probably cos they were so busy gawking as they went past and gave a wave and smile when they got to me in the cab. It was a nice feeling! But If anyone saw a silver Disco with big blue boat trailer yesterday between Newy and Taree and waved, I apologise cos it wasn't me driving at the time

been trying the waves but D2 owners must think they are above it, or the ones in my area, mind you the wife doesn't wave so they might think it is a non waving car

Have notice series/defender drivers are always good for a wave but fellow Disco owners not so much. Does give u a nice warm feeling though when u get that small display of acknowledgement.

I mostly wave, dont bother as much with the really modern stuff, but up to and including D2's I at least try!

Going back a few years I had a late 04 td5 D2 and waved at an 80" series 1. He waved back!! he did look a bit shocked though!

There is a local somewhere near me with a D2 who always waves.

I must confess... "I'M A WAVER".... must to the dismay of SWMBO.

Found that LRs, except Defenders, that are basically setup stock standard and used as townies I get nadda...zip acknowledgement from.

Once owners start adding bits to be less townee and more playee the more waves or nods I get.

Almost always get a wave from a Defender...must be cos they got plenty of time to react

No is because we are easy going, polite and happy drivers and owners of the "original" and best 4WD
