    Sorry if the truth hurts!
As a Disco 2 owner I fell that I am well entitled to make whatever comment that I wish!

I have the rear door problem & believe me it is bloody inconvenient when you have a cargo barrier fitted!
Also, I agree with Bundalene that the problem is most likely to be a weak spring, which of course is unavailable as a spare part. There is a company in the UK that have springs for Discos, but at this stage only for Disco 1s.
I have wondered if spraying electrical contact cleaner in to the lock mechanism would clean it?

Also, right now I am wrestling with the starter solenoid problem, again a well known issue!

Sorry Shaker but there's no way for us to know that you are a D2 owner just from "that" post,,

And i hope you're wrong Bundalene!!
I'm forever trying to open the rear door on mine and finding it still locked,,

mine seems to require THREE fob presses to unlock,,,,

one day, someone in Toowoomba will buy a Nanocom and I''ll change the car to "single press",,

    then it'll only need two

Mine is 6 years old and hasnt had any rear or other door lock problems yet thankfully. The problem if they do play up is when you have a cage!!! I have a Milford full height and that wont be pretty

My ignition lock played up once and a locksmith removed a tumbler to get it going and said that if I used graphite powder in the barrel and all door locks (where you can fit the key) he would never see me again...that was about 3-4 years ago. I carry the stuff in the door pocket and apply it every 6-8 months when I think about it...never had a problem. A good squirt and then use the key in and out a dozen times.

I also reckon that whilst these trucks have some annoying problems at times, MOSTLY they are fairly minor and just annoying...i like that much better than say a newer model prado's idea of a small problem where the rear door never plays up but $30 grands worth of DID goes up with a bang...believe me I can live with small things. She has never refused to start and run and even the three amigos went away 20,000k ago after I pressure water cleaned the brakes and used her off road to stir the modulator.

    I love my D2!

    Cheers

I know what the truth is. My point was that your post wasnt hepful at all. The thread was started because 29dinosaur needed some advice. I can understand if you have been frustrated with your D2 (I have too), but your original comment didnt really contribute anything. Your second certainly did.

I am sure it is not the first, nor will be last post, posted here out of frustration!

If it offended anybody, then I apologise. I do normally try keep my contributions here a little more useful.

I forgot to mention with my rear door problem, which was exactly as described in this thread, I backed of the latch adjustment a little & it hasn't done it since!

Thanks for replies -will try to give some of them a try on weekend.

(Now I must say these niggley LR problems are a real pain in the neck as some others have also replied - I'm sick too of the three amigos coming and going. Am getting sick of them nearly to the point of going back to Jap.. but nothing rides like a LR)

My wife found the problem with ours was the outside handle wasn't quite returning to the right position. She'd just pull the handle down then it would work fine.

Well took off plastic land Rover badge, blew hard into the handle and mechanism and hey - bingo, jolly thing came open.
Now after a liberal squirt of carbon powder around the locks we'll see how we go.

Also had 3 amigos come on for nth time yesterday. Wouldn't cancel with key in ignition, open, close door or any other combination, so decided i'd plant my foot to the brake pedal when starting and also had success. (Now can I squirt the graphite pdr into th eABS system to keep it working??)
