N.T Boys have fun in the Mud

Went out on the week end withb some of the N.T landy boys to play in the mud had a great time but was running on road tyres 235 70 R16. I go bogged 3 times not due to the car more to do with the drivers lack of skill.

my question is I am lookin to put new tyres on the beast it is a 2002 disco TD5 running stand springs in the front and sls in the back I was wondering what is the biggest tyer I can run will a 265 75 R16 or 235 75 R16 fit with out putting lift under the car

also which is the best mud tyre out there I am looking at Mickey Thompson Cooper's or BF goodrich

as you can see the mud is good up here in dawin

    looks good,

im running 265/75 bighorns on my car and havent had any real problem with them they have done ok some seriously muddy spots,

my next tires i think will be the silverstone mt117 sports, you can get them in a 31x10.5 which should fit under a stock d2 and there is no shortage of people on here who will give them a good rap,

i however wont be buying another set of the bighorns as the amount mine have broken up in 3000ks is a little bit dissapointing.

ditch the SLS n get some 2" coils up it!

oh dear I was going to get silverstones...but opted for the bighorns after the good talk up they got from everyone..

I decided against the sliverstones as I didn't want to put another set of directional tyres on

oh well guess just have to see how they go
Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......

My Bighorns have done just over 10,000ks and are fine, look almost new.

Got into a bit of that on a shooting trip near Coen, the ground was pretty hard but slippery,we could actually push the disco left & right on the mud.I only juuust got out,the bfg a/t's were completely glogged, almost no grip at all.

If you havent lifted it then I would go for something in a 247/75/r16. These will fit a non lifted D2 nice.

As for the type of tyre...depends if you are going to do this sort of driving regularly. If not go for something like a Mickey Thompson ATZ. If you want a tougher tyre to do this driving I would try the MTZ, bighorns or the BFG muddies.

    Nice mud pics!
