G'day all, I'm looking at fitting IPF driving lights to my D2 td5. I have heard that using a generic wiring loom and relay (instead of a gen LR kit) can upset the BCU and cause problems. Can anyone confirm or advise what they are using? Cheers, Newdog.
I wired up my own lights using the lightforce wiring harness and have had no problems
I thing you have been feed some bull

As said.. you have been fed total BS.
Do yourself a favor though.... if thinking of a generic harness... take a close look at cable sizes - particularly between the battery and relay then relay and lights - decent cable can make a huge difference.
The standard IPF loom is total rubbish IHMO.

I am running the IPF harness with no problems
I've used IPFs for long time on my DII but I found that they didn't like to be submerged into dirty water - eventually the reflectors got very "aged"!
I run Cibie lights now, but they aren't any more water proof than the IPFs, but I don't have to worry about bog holes anymore due to this drought!
But the point that I'm making is that I have been using the IPF supplied wiring loom and switch and even when I swapped out the lights themselves, I kept the loom.
Works just fine.
If you want to use the genuine LR loom, I know that this is a whole complete kit and requires the Testbook to enable the function. I was given a genuine LR driving light kit but didn't bother to install it because it seems far too complex and the IPF solution was already proven across two Simpson Desert crossings.
