Mate, you are talking about a petrol D2 here aren't you?
Hi all,
Just got my "new" used Long Ranger tanks for the Disco and have cleaned and repainted them with matt black epoxy. I plan to fit them next week and will post some pics of the process. It looks pretty simple apart from having to lift the blighters into position while simultaneously fitting the bolts etc. The new ones are BIG, but then they need to be to match the fuel flow while towing. These should give me around 650-700 km range with the van in tow.
Cheers,
Terry
Mate, you are talking about a petrol D2 here aren't you?
Yep. It's a 4.6 HC V8. The V8 gives about half the range on the standard tank that my neighbour gets with his TD5, both around town and on the road. That is why I need to extra fuel. 320 km minimum distance without fuel on the Nullarbor isn't real good with a 350 km range. But who would take a TD5 when you could have a real engine?
Seriously, it is the only down side to the V8, but you get used to the extra cost. I have considered if I would buy a diesel, but at the moment probably not. Although the new diesel D4 is getting interesting.
You don't need a caravan Mate, you need a mini tanker.
I would help you out, only I move 40,000 litres at a time.
How many litres for your 350 odd K's
Cheers Lionel
There's a thought. Want to follow me on my next trip?
