    Question Issues with brake rotors

Hi, this is my first post so go easy with me. I have a 2001 D2 V8. I have owned it for about 18 months and have done the usual head gasket, radiator and other sundry sort of things that have been needed. DPL have done all the work and they say that it is in pretty good nick.
I was having a closer look at my brake rotors this morning and noticed quite a few score marks on them. The brakes seem to work fine and there is no noise. Could it be that the pads were replaced without the rotors and, if so, would they still work ok?
Would it be more sensible to fit slotted discs and if so, can I still use genuine LR pads..

    Thanks for your help..

The rotors just wear into a ripple pattern with age. You can run standard pads with slotted rotors also.

as a rough rule of thumb....

1 rotor lasts 2 sets of pads.

DONT take risks with under thickness rotors, vernier them or have someone do it for you....

    Slunnie nailed the rest.

My advice would be to stick to genuine rotors as after market ones can cause a harmonic which sets off the three amigos. (HDC TC ABS warning lights)

That'd be more to do with the pads.

EBC and EBC rotors are totally quiet
EBC and OE rotors are totally quiet
Bendix and Dba are totally quiet
Lucas TRW and EBC rotors are noisy

Just called the listed EBC supplier closest to home for prices. Told that I "need to bring them down; there is 3 different listings for Discovery 99-04 and no way of telling." Got to be kidding!! Once they are off I can’t drive down…. Can I assume that EBC don’t have an accurate parts list or is this guy got issues.

Q – where is the best place to buy Rotors and Pads in Brisbane (east)? Or are people getting them shipped?

They may have listed the 2000 series greenstuff which I believe is now obsolete for the D2 - this was an outstanding pad, the 6000 series 4x4 pads is also available - get Bendix instead, and the yellowstuff 4000 series pad I've recently seen advertised in the UK - this is a high performance track pad, but I'm not sure what its like on a D2. I've also just seen there is a new 7000 series 4x4 pad and likewise I'm not sure what they're like.

The pads are all the same for 99-04 Discos, they are probably just different compounds that are available to them.

Where can I find these rotors cheap? Mine are a bit wobbly....

I suspect they are slightly warped.

My rears are also stuffed due to mud and crap getting caught in there and held in place with the stone guards....
