Shuttle Valve ??????
Mike
Hi to all helpful info providers - greatly appreciated.
Service centre indicated that there is a problem with the 'V...?? modulator; I think he said linked to TC & ABS. It needs replacing so now i have to wait until tomorrow to get it back. I'm happy for them to take their time to get it right as i have 2 weeks of holiday driving starting next week. I've obviously forgotten what 'V...' word he mentioned; i sound like an idiot. Does the service centre info sound about right??![]()

Nope that wasn't mentioned 2 rock... maybe 'fancy' name for it or he didnt know I didnt know and made up a word. But sounds very similar to reply that mentioned pot holes and side road then noise. Good to know that noise is the TC though.
good stuff if they are replacing the shuttle valves or the whole modulator
as for the growl,,
get someone in the front passenger with their feet on the firewall,,
The TC can be felt easily when activated.

Didnt realise that about the Prados Baz...I remember when I first got the D2 in 02 and the TC went off when I went off road and I nearly jumped out of my skin. It was all so quiet apart from that!
Cheers
PS. Bet the Toyo boys would hate to hear that a Lexus production line Prado has a noisier anything than LR!
The service centre is probably talking about the ABS Modulator, which contains the shuttle valve switch pack. Apparently when there used to be a problem with the modulator it required the whole part to be replaced which costs a small fortune, but in most cases only the shuttle valve failed but could not be replaced individually. Then they supplied shuttle valve which meant you could repair the existing modulator without the great expense. But I would have thought if you had a faulty modulator/shuttle valve then you would have the classic three amigos warning lights. Is this service centre a Land Rover specialist?
Cheers Matt
