    ACE warning light

    HI All
The ACE warning light comes on while driving just under 100Km/h and sometime at around 80Km/h.
The light is amber not red and the manual anly staes to drive slowly and take it to a dealer.
This has happened a couple of times but no error logs was found.
    Any advice?

    Rudolf

get the system checked asap - ours recently failed in a big way. Most common fault seems to be the hoses, or at least the seals - which is what failed on ours. You may just be losing a bit of pressure. Have you checked for any fluid loss or signs of small leaks?

    Hi Rudolf,

I have the same issue, however mine only occurs on long journeys on the open freeway, normally when the car is loaded up. So this has only occured 2-3 times in 8 months.

I had the oil changed in the ACE system some time ago and it had water through it, my LR service place has recommended based on the condition of the oil last time that it may be worth changing it again next service as it may have flushed through more crap.

So aside from that not sure how else to tackle it, interested as well to hear people's thoughts.

    Cheers
    JB

    JB & Andy
    The finer details.
It always happens past the 20Km mark (40Km trip) and always in the mornings. Temp around the mid tens. (deg C) It is also on the open roads but I tend to take it leisurely.
Thus the low speeds and the lately loads of roadworks.

No leaks and oil level is ok.
The oil pressure could be a suspect. No oil change for a very, very long time and also no filter change.
Oil and filter to be the starting point.
Warnign light clears itself when the ingnition is turned off and on again.

There have been instances of minor problems with the accelerometers. The upper one (above the centre rear vision mirror) is only held in place with pop rivets and a few have been found to be loose. The lower one is on the body below the driver's door and can get covered in mud thus intefering with its proper operation.

With the light amber, the system is 'locked bars' so driving is the same as having very stiff stabiliser bars, as long as the fluid level is OK and therefore the pump is not running dry as this will very quickly destroy the pump.

    Amber Light

Mine has gone Amber a couple of times on days above 36 deg when doing a long drive on he freeway.

I just put it down to heat build up. Heat is the enemy of the Hydraulics circuit.
    It seems fine after that.

Over 40 kph on straight road there is minimal pressure in the pump circuit unless the filter is partly blocked, so highway cruising should not be generating much heat. I've done lots of hot weather driving and never had any problems so I don't think its the cause of any faults.

I have the same problem (amber ACE ligh), occassionaly happens when the car is loaded up and on the highway; a quick stop & start of the engine clears the problem for the rest of the journey.

have checked with nanocom and never any errors logged.

some suggestions I have received include: changing the ACE oil & ACE filter and having the accelerometers recalibrated.

As your problem seems to be happening more often than not it would be worth trying the above suggestions ? interested to hear how you go with this !

My 2002 car had an intermittent amber light and was fixed by either replacing or recalibrating the sensor as mentioned by Graeme above.
