    I was wrong !!!

I am sure someone else will be along shortly to give you some ideas as to other things to look at.
See what happens when you try to do things from memory... I am putting it down to getting older

    Just pulled out my figures.

    Averages are these:

    12.36 l / 100km
    77.43 l each re-fill
    628 between fills

As I said, these are averages based on about 14 mths worth of figures, filling up on average every 20 days.

That gives me an effective average range of 752km to a tank.

Now that I have swallowed my pride, I have noticed that in the last tank since I have changed the tyres & rims from 255/55/18 to 245/70/16 my fuel consumption has increased to 13.64 l / 100km.

Need a bit longer to see if this is just a once off due to bad traffic, or if it is going to stay that way.

What I did notice is that doing the EGR mod didn't significantly improve my figures. That said, it could be that I am also enjoying the extra power it provides.

i just completed a run over the weekend and even with dodgy gearbox returned the following:
    816km - 80.04ltrs = 9.81 ltr/100km.
fuel light came on about 20km before i filled up so about 15ltrs in reserve, should nudge 1000km with thos figures.

Got to be happy with that, fully loaded with roofpod.
    Cheers

OK my D2 towing over the weekend (same place as Yorkie) last tank was 317ks of towing our 1.3t camper from Burraga to home, the rest was driving around the area and to and from work the last couple of days.

    Result; 644ks, 86.64lts used for 13.4l/100k.

Now the trip to Burraga of 317ks, then putting 50lts in the tank when we got there, resulted in 16l/100k, sitting on 105 to 110kph on the freeway and 100kph, there are a lot of long up hills going to goulburn and from goulburn to Burraga and usually our economy is better on the return trip, because the hills are not as steep and long.

Bruce Davis chip, 3", Vortex, EGR bypass, 265/75s, roof rack, bullbar, winch.

Our normal towing tank can vary, depending on how hilly the driving is, but usually it's around 15l/100 average, it's the hills that kills the economy, especially with big tyres.

Around town it is around 10l/100 to 12l/100 most we have ever gotten from a tank of fuel is 794ks.

To answer you question, the fuel usage does seem a bit high, I'd look at cleaning your MAF and AAP sensors to start with, then changing your fuel and air filters.

Ambient Air Pressure sensor, it's located radiator side, on the air filter box.

Be careful with this sensor, they are not cheap.
