    WELL!!
If you want to get the climate control unit out, DON'T pull out the stereo! It's far easier to remove the coin and ash trays, then the cup holders then you can just get your fingers in, press and out she comes!!!
I also pulled out the Binacle as I wanted to replace the globe behind the odometer/trip meter.
Went to Jaycar with all of the LR globes in hand and bingo! replaced them all with white LED's except for the Odometer light.... couldn't get that fitting apart without it breaking . Total cost..... $21.70!, that's to do the aircon and dash. The one for the odometer will cost me about $7 from LR I think and it won't be LED.

Now the entire dash is SOOOO much clearer and the aircon controls can be read at night by the visually challenged 55 year old like me .

Picking up the Odometer globe tomorrow so will put the dash back in and YES I know NIGHT Pics as soon as it's back together, promise.

    Calrity without lights?

Thanks to all posters so far. Replacing bulbs is surprisingly easy. My question is can the display be made more readable in bright day light? Is there a brightness or contrast control hidden away somehwere? When the sun is bright I have a hard time reading my display.

Hi Tombie. I've found a few of the blue bulbs and posted about them a few weeks ago. Did you ever find a blue bulb part number for the clock bulb?

I had a problem with the centre bulb on the HVAC (the one that supplies all thesmall button iillumination) - led doesn't have work there. I might have a dodgy printed circuit for that one. I will try a normal LR bulb and see how that goes sans the little green hat.

    Cheers
