    Mate - if you have not already got it get a Icom all in the mic' machine and stick the base up under the glovebox and sneak the lead to allow the Mic to hook onto the ashtray and it sits on that very nicely....very neat and a very good unit.

    How is the sound level when mounted in the map pocket? Do you need an external speaker?

    I thought i would have needed a external speaker but it seems just loud and clear enough without one, might put one up there if i can find a small one and a neat spot to put it

    I have my UHF and VHF setup on the roof console. Body of TX3400 attached under dash and just used a CAT 5 cable to extend the factory lead upto the head unit.
