Thread: Leaking transfer case

My D2 TD5 2000 model is leaking oil again from the transfer case, not exactly sure where but appears to be from the upper area of the inspection plate. I have had it repaired before approx 2 years ago and transfer case was removed to do the job. I am hoping someone can advise me if I could use a heavier oil or are there any additives such as Wynns which may fix the problem.

Three reasons could be possible.
The low/high range selector rod o ring does not seal.
The breather pipe has not been screwed on properly.
The inspection plate leaks. (gasket area)
Will soon find out where mine is and report on it.
