    Hi all,
I've just been through the same process chasing prices for Bilstein B994 & B995 shocks. I emailed a whole lot of companies in both Aus & US, the replies from US were that those shocks are not sold in North America, most prices in Aus came to around $950 delivered, but I was lucky because I bought a set from Suspension Stuff for $850 delivered with rear stone guards. You could try ringing Suspension stuff and see what price they could do, I found them great to deal with.
    Cheers Matt

Now what I currently believe is that the rear shocks sold here as F4- BE5-B995-M0 have the follow specs:

    Extended Length: 618mm (24.33 inches)
    Closed Length: 388mm (15.28 inches)
    Rebound of 2555Nm
    Bump of 1035Nm
    Rated at .52 Per sec

(This info was stolen from a previous post from TempestV8)

The OEM rears are 593mm open and 363mm closed

Now looking at shockwarehouse ( thanks Phil !) I found these:

Bilstein shocks and struts for cars and trucks - Shockwarehouse.com

    F4-BE5-A464-H5

    Extended Length: 25.93 inches
    Closed Length: 15.91 inches
    Travel: 10.17 inches
    Valving: 170/60

At US$75.70 a shock it's very temping to give them a go.

Can anyone with more tech knowledge than me tell be if I am letting myself in for trouble?

ok from this page on eshocks
    eshocks.com: Bilstein Off-Road Shock Guide
the shocks above should be 255/103 valving... so the 170/60's might be a bit soft..

see if you can get closer to the 255/70 or 275/78.

    cheers phil

the biggest problem with the imported shocks for the D2 will be the eye bushing size.. all US bilisteins are 1/2'' bolt..i think the D2 bolt size for the rear is bigger?

this would not be an issue for me as i would find a way to modify the mounts.

    D2 are 12mm
    That sounds doable ...

Only big downside I can see is zero warranty..... but they may be 1/2 the price too!

    Thanks for all the help.
