D2 Air Suspension Problems
Seems leaking bags is a common problem but mine seems to be doing something that baffles me.
I do have a minor airleak in th RHR bag, but very slow. I can leave parked for days and no dropping of suspension, but then occassionally come back and bags are down. Start up and bags refill within like 30-40 seconds.
My real problem is the suspension completely dropping whilst driving.
While driving it will empty out rapidly and then refill itself. If the car is stationary and running the bags will not deflate at all, pump keeps it up.
Last night parked the car and as I walked away the bags did a rapid and complete empty out within seconds. I think it may be some sort of leveling sensor problem but don't know where to start looking for the problem. Emptying much faster than just a leeky bag.
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers

Just a few points for you to ponder.
1/ The longer you leave this trouble the more likely you will need to get a new compressor too as it seems to me that they wear out pretty quickly if they are having to do more than their normal work load. Quite pricey.
2/ The bags will normally go one at a time so it should just be one corner letting you down. As you have trouble with both bags it makes it unusual for worn bags. It can be a very confusing and intermittent problem as the leak is always in the roll of the bag and it depends on the exact extension or compression of the bag to open up the leak. I have even used soap and water and found nothing one day only to discover it was the bag the next. All depends on the position of the bag.
3/ Otherwise it is sensors or computer or the control valve block. You may get some help at your service agent with checking the computer for errors. Just sort it out quickly or as said you will be up for a new compressor next.
Good Luck

Sounds like a significant split in the air bellows. As mentioned they nearly always split where it rolls over at normal height and depending on the position of the roll it often squeezes the crack/split closed appearing to be ok – like when the car is stationary – but provide some spring travel and it blows through.
When it drops as you describe can you hear air escaping? This would be the best indication, if you can hear it from the rear order a pair of Air Spring Assemblies. The compressor, valves, air box is under the floor below the front passenger seat... My money is on the air spring (bag or bellows)
