    Discovery II Td5 squeaky

    Dear all

First of all, this forum is really interesting and I found heaps of solutions for my baby ;-)
But this time I am a little bit confused.
Since a while I got a squeaky noise in the engine bay. For me it sounds like a drivebelt. So Ive replaced the drivebelt, replaced idler roller and noise is still here.
The noise cant be heard at idle, just when u start to drive approx. after 5 till 10k. A winching noise.
Any one an idea what it could be?

    regards

Airconditioner clutch does make a fare amount of noise if it have dirt ingress into its workings.

Try turning off heater totally and see the noise disappears.

Also the exhaust manifold can leak after breaking the studs.

You could have a very small split in the turbo hoses which will have a wincing/piercing sound.

Thanks guys for all your replays.
Checked all your tips and you wont believe it at the end of a day what it was

    And here we go:
2 month ago I had a crash with a power point in front of a property at mates place. The crash damaged my front bumper RH and as you know old plastic breaks really fast. The hole is a size 5 by 5 cm. During driving the air is cutting the plastic and this hole was the reason for the winching noise, after fitting some sticky tape over that hole and a drive around the block noise is gone. Stupid isnt it?

Again appreciate your tips guys and this thread can be closed

Oh yeah, interesting. If it wasnt that I was going to say check your front prop shaft joint. Whent he bearing cups fail and come off they make a squeeking noise that sounds a lot like a manifold gasket...
