Hi, hoping you can help me with my 2004 TD5.
Its a classic and came with 18" rims. As I hope to do more 4WDing I brought my self a second hand set of 5, 16" rims, as new condition, the 5 spoke style.
Feeling quite pleased with my self I offered them up to the wheel hub only to find that the "offset" was different to my 18" set. The wheel sat further in to the wheel arch and look odd. I mesured the distance on both sets, the 18" were about 57mm and the 16" at around 44mm "offset".
Why the differance ? I know that other 16" rims look right !

The offset is marked on genuine rims. Look for something like 7Jx16AH2x57
The 57 is the offset in mm. Earlier Discos and RR used 33mm.
The offset will still be 57mm if they are 7" or 8"

Thanks, I'll check that out and see what I come up with.
Nate.
Hi Ron, I checked the rims out and they are marked with 57 mm. So where does the differance arise.
Is it because one is 8 inch and the other 7 ?
Even though they both are 57mm offset the smaller one is 57mm from the middle of 7 inches as opposed to 8, is that why the offset differance I measured is about 13mm, around half the value of 1 inch ? ? ?
Nate
I'm not sure how you are measuring the offset. It is the distance from the back face of the hub mounting surface to a the centre of the rim: See http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp
