    D2 Unused wires/connectors

    Hi

Due to an intercooler replacement I've took the front headlights off. I have noticed that there are two unused gray connectors with some wires attached, one behind each headlight. Does anyone have a clue what are those connectors?

    Any help would be appreciated
    Cheers

possibly for the self levelling headlight system as an optional fitment. or maybe the factory foglight wiring ?

    Thanks for the info

Yeah it had factory foglights allright - until I've broke them together with the lower part of the front bumper. Since then I've fitted afermarket foglights (not driving lights) on the nice and shiny bullbar and I've wired them using the original foglight wiring and connectors. Also I've blanked the foglight holes on the bumper with metal grilles and painted them to the color of the bumper. So the conclusion is that I doubt that those connectors could be for foglights.

    Ideeas welcome

The button for levelling the headlights is there and it works
I have to get a multimeter but I'm noo good in electrics
Additonal info: The car was sold in Germany - perhaps it differs in some minor detals (besides that it's LHD) from those sold Down Under - who knows?
You say that your cars don't have the turning switch marked with 0, 1, 2 and 3 for adjusting the headlights?

no, cos mine has the self levelling suspension on the back. with the coil rear springs they have headlight adjusters. with sls they dont cos the rear suspension keeps the body level so no need for the headlight adjusters. ok, so if its not that, then i got no other ideas, both mine are out. sorry

Its law in Europe that vehicles have a means of adjusting the headlights (cannot remember the date from which it started)

So, we all have adjustable headlights, having SLS or coils makes no difference, although having SLS kinda makes the headlight levelling redundant lol. I have both on mine.

With ref to the "original" question, I to have those "unused" connectors, and have often wondered what they are for, and mines fitted with headlight levelling and front fogs, might do a little investigation.........
