No CC & no temp gauge sounds like it might be a Defender ecu rather than a Disco one. Find the number on the ecu and someone will soon confirm if its a D2 or Defender ecu.

The loss of the Cruise Control is probably linked to the flash upgrade. Have heard of that before. The upgraded program does not recognise the cruise control instructions.

Not sure about the Temp gauge issue, but as Graemehas suggested, it might be a Defender ECU.

msb is a non flashable ecu.
and why dose the green sticker say DEF??????

so how much did you pay for that ecu and what year was yourse???

its a really good way to force you into an ecu upgrade and for them to get a stock one to re chip

ring bruce davis and tell him whats happened and give him the ecu serial, he should be able to tell you what he did to that ecu.

    cheers phil

    Thanks Phil

Paid $836 and the car is a 1999.

A bit of further searching brings up

A few other UK references all point to the part number being for a Defender.

I guess my question now should be whether this ECU can be properly programmed for my car? Tried ringing Bruce Davis. Not too helpful I'm afraid as the car was done by someone else in Melbourne.

typical! he re chipped the bloody ecu! why dose putting it in your car make him wash his hands of it????

i dont think that the defer ecu can be changed to suit a disco, try a pm to BAS and or tombie2.

as for the price.. there is a thread in the veranda section that has an offer of an exchange flashable upgraded ecu for your non flashable ecu for around what you paid

    cheers phil
