Does anyone know if i could get this trim/bumper paint made up to match the colour of my car so i can colour code the flairs like the 09 D3's?

I had exactly the same problem except my flares had also turned very rough to touch - similar to rough sandpaper, armourall had no effect.

I sanded my flares back to a smooth finish with varying grades of wet and dry sand paper (being careful not to sand the surrounding panels) then applied a permanent bumper and trim recolour treatment; there are probably many around but the one I found from the local 'cheap' shop was 'forever black'.

3 months on and the flares look as good the day I recoloured them.

    hope this helps.

I've used the same stuff on mine - bought it from Supercrap in Kalgoorlie. Also works well on the rubber trim immediately below the side windows on the doors.

It's about a year since I used it, and still looking OK - starting to fade a bit at the top edges of the flares now, so will apply again soon. I reckon a year isn't bad though.
    Cheers .........

Just read your post on the D2 wheel arches. Are they still holding up ok or have you found a different treatment?

after 1 year in Melbourne then another in Adelaide's sun, mine seem as good as the day I re-sprayed them with 3M Acrylic Bumper Black. Gotta spend the time cleaning and masking first though.

    +1 same here

I was going to try similar sand down and paint, glad to hear it works!

Would it be easier removing before paint?

Better than dropping $600 on these

    Mudguard flare problems

Looks like everyone has the same problem with the flares - rough surface and faded colour. I will sand them back and try the 3M Bumper Paint.

    Many thanks

The quick and easy temporary way is to use tyre black, the Kitten brand one I think that Repco sells in a tin you just paint on with a paint brush. Lasts a while.

The good way is to remove them, clean them up, spray them in black bumper paint and will last for years with a nice look.
